Journeys Into Fantasy Workshops page

Journeys Into Fantasy’ is a series of events and workshops bridging the worlds of storytelling and gaming, presented by Fergus Ryan (Obvious Arts) at Atlantic Games in Stroud during National Storytelling Week 2017.

As Gamers we collaborate in the creation of stories. Our characters each play out their ‘Hero’s Journey’ in an ever-deepening realm of shared imagination; as they learn and grow, so do we. Superficially we learn about dice, probability, details of our particular games. Inwardly we process questions, dreams, trauma and other experiences. Through our group interactions we develop strategic, improvisational, team and leadership skills. Classic psychological archetypes e.g. Warrior, Healer, Fool etc. found in folklore and myth turn up in our games, along with our social need to come together, play, share stories and connect.

In this spirit of connecting you are cordially invited to cross the bridge joining Storyville to Games City. See the events listing below for details, contact fergusryan@obviousarts.com to book tickets or workshop places. Admission can be paid on the door at Atlantic Games provided space is still available.
